Dignics 09C puts a tacky topsheet on Butterfly’s Spring Sponge X, the high-tension sponge used across the Dignics range. It is the most high-end hybrid we stock: more bite on a slow ball than a European sheet, and more speed straight off the sponge than a traditional Chinese one. Most players use it on the backhand, though it works on both wings.
Do not read too much into the number. At 44° on the ESN scale — roughly 33° Chinese — it looks soft next to our Chinese sheets, but it is an advanced rubber, and a fairly demanding one on the backhand.
It suits you if your technique is already solid and you want tacky-style spin without giving up speed close to the table.
It does not suit you if you are still building your strokes, or if budget matters — it is the most expensive sheet we stock. The QuanShiBao sheets are the affordable hybrid, the Yinhe Moon 12 Blue is the soft backhand option, and for the heavy, low arc of a pure Chinese sheet the Hurricane 3 Neo Provincial does it better.

Two thin coats on the sponge, one on the blade. Let every coat dry completely clear before the next — a milky surface means it is not ready, and trapped moisture is a common cause of bubbles.
- Use a water-based glue. DHS No. 15 Glue is the one we stock.
- Roll from the centre outwards to push air to the edges.
- Trim with a sharp blade along the edge of the wood, or with sharp scissors — curved ones make the rounded edge easiest.
- Between sessions, use the protective film or another topsheet cover, so dust stays off and the tack lasts longer.
